Levels

From a toddler to a grown-up

A level sets how wide the paths print. Narrower paths fit more of them into the same shape, so the same photo makes an easy maze or a long one.

Beginner

ages 3–5

Very wide paths.

  • 14 mm paths

Easy

ages 5–7

Wide paths.

  • 9 mm paths

Medium

ages 7–9
  • 6 mm paths
  • Where every new maze starts

Hard

ages 9+

Narrow paths.

  • 5 mm paths

Expert

The narrowest paths, for grown-ups.

  • 4 mm paths

The narrowest path still fits a pencil line between the walls.

Options

Four more choices, all optional

Every one has a starting value, so you can make a maze with the level alone and change the rest only if you want to.

Style

Flowing runs the paths along the outline, ring inside ring. Square lays a grid over the shape.

  • Flowing or Square
  • Starts on flowing

Paths

Long straight runs, a mix, or a path that turns at every step.

  • Long, Mixed or Twisty
  • Starts on mixed

Start and finish

Where the way in and the way out go, or a finish in the middle of the picture.

  • Farthest apart, Left to right, Top to bottom or Finish in the middle
  • Starts on farthest apart

Picture

The outline alone, or the drawing printed faintly under the walls so the picture shows.

  • Outline only or Faint picture
  • Starts on outline only

What you get

The maze and the way out

One upload makes every file below. Print the PDF and the answer comes out as page two.

Drawing

PNG

Your photo as drawn, before the maze

Pages are drawn for A4 or US Letter at 300 dpi. Print at 100% so the paths keep the width their level promises.

How it works

No grid to draw yourself

No maze software, no tracing round the photo. You choose the level; the walls are built for you.

Upload a photo

A pet, a person, a whole family, straight off a phone. One clear subject on a plain background gives the cleanest outline.

Pick the level

One of 5 levels and A4 or US Letter. The photo is drawn as an outline and the maze is built inside it, with Start and Finish marked.

Print both pages

Download one PDF with the maze and its answer, or each page as a PNG. Pages you make yourself have no watermark.

Who it's for

A way through their own dog

Maze books are castles and spaceships. This one is the photo on your phone.

At home

The family pet, a grandparent, the whole family. A maze of someone they know is one they want to get out of.

In class

Planning a route and pencil control, at a level for the age in the room. The answer page makes checking quick.

For grown-ups

The narrowest level is long enough for a coffee break, and a maze of someone's own dog makes a printable gift.

FAQ

Before you print

What does it cost?+

3 credits a maze, whatever the level or the options, and that includes the answer page. Signing up gives you 10 credits (3 mazes) with no card.

Which photos work best?+

One clear subject that stands out from what is behind it: a pet, a person standing, a family close together. The maze follows the outline, so a shape you can recognise from its edge makes the best maze.

Is every maze different?+

Yes. Each new page carves a new maze, even from the same photo, so one picture can make a whole set.

Can I type a subject instead, like a dinosaur?+

Not yet. The maze works from a photo you upload. For a picture from a sentence, the coloring page tool draws one.

What paper does it print on?+

A4 or US Letter, chosen before you make the page. Print at 100% scale: the level is the width of the paths as printed.

Who can see my photos?+

Only you. Mazes are private to your account and never appear in the public catalogue.

Can I sell the mazes I make?+

Yes. The mazes are yours: sell them printed, as a download or in a puzzle book, on every plan, including the free one, with no licence to buy. The one condition is that you hold the rights to the photo you started from.

Get lost in the cat

Or the dog, or the family on the sofa. Signing up gives you 10 credits (3 mazes) with no card.
